We are looking for an inspiring and experienced Deputy Medical Director – Urgent Care to join our leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of urgent care services within the Severnside Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) service. In this role, youwill be at the forefront of ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care, while also contributing to the development of our services.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Medical Director, you will be responsible for providing medical leadership across a range of services, including traditional Out-of-Hours, plus frailty, paediatric, and mental health, and more. You will work closely with senior leaders to oversee the clinical governance of Severnside, drive service innovation, and represent BrisDoc in key external partnerships.
Key responsibilities include: o Medical Leadership: Providing oversight to ensure high-quality, patient-centred careo Collaboration: Working closely with senior colleagues to support service innovation and performanceo Clinical Activity and Engagement: Undertaking clinical shifts within Severnside, adhering to evidence-based practiceso Stakeholder Engagement: Representing Severnside in external partnerships and maintaining strong relationships across the health and social care systemo Governance and Compliance: Supporting clinical governance and, together with the Director of Nursing, Allied Health Professionals and Governance, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards

Job responsibilities
Play a key oversight role in the maintenance of a safe, effective, caring service Work closely and supportively with the Head of Severnside Nursing/AHPs, the Head of Severnside, the Director of Nursing, AHPs and Governance, the Service and Programme Director, the Severnside Lead GPs, the Lead Clinical Practitioners, and others as needed To work clinically in at least one area of Severnside and to adhere to evidence-informed practice and relevant guidelines (or clarify reasons for departure therefrom) Provide input and leadership into Severnsides innovation and development Alongside the Medical Director, to ensure senior medical representation on all Severnside-related Boards and on BrisDocs Corporate Leadership Board (the role on the latter may be reviewed) Represent Severnside to external partners, such as the ICB, One Care, the GP Collaborative Board, Sirona, Hospitals, Local Authorities, SWAST and others To further develop relationships across BNSSG and beyond, eg. via UHUK Line manage the Severnside Lead GPs, and others as needed Support Severnside Lead GPs in managing day-to-day issues, governance issues, clinical performance concerns and other challenges when required Where needed, to lead the management of more complex learning events and complaints, including Serious Incidents (with Medical Director input as needed) Support the recruitment and retention of all clinical staff Support the training and development of all clinical staff To support and, where needed, lead the performance management of Severnside clinicians (in collaboration with the Medical Director as appropriate) To ensure the oversight of GP trainees in Severnside and of others in training, such as medical students Deal with relevant tricky situations carefully and tactfully as and when they arise To support crisis management in Severnside (and elsewhere) as needed
